Alex Kummer was a junior at Harrisburg High School and a Tiger baseball player when he tragically died by suicide on Sept. 4, 2021. Alex was a smart and caring young man with a bright future ahead of him. The Kummer family is now working to increase suicide awareness, education, and prevention, and the HBA is proud to partner with them in these efforts by hosting the Alex Kummer Memorial Tournament.
This tournament is about more than just baseball. It is about honoring Alex's life by working to ensure that others learn from this tragedy. The Kummer family believes that if we can help one person, many lives will be touched and that raising awareness is key.

The online store for pre-ordering your "Be Alex Kind" tournament T-shirt has closed. However, a limited number and sizes will be available for purchase at the tournament. Five dollars from each shirt sold will benefit the Alex Kummer Foundation.
While Alex enjoyed baseball and being with friends, he also excelled scholastically. He was enrolled in advanced and college-level courses as a junior while maintaining a 4.0+ GPA. His goal was to attend Augustana University to become an anesthesiologist.
While Alex was gifted in many ways, most of all, he was kind and made an impact on all who knew him.
The Kummer family has created the Alex Kummer Scholarship in memory of Alex. This one-time scholarship of $3,000 will be awarded each summer at the Alex Kummer Memorial Tournament.
